Our Power Is Water
Climate change from carbon-emitting energy is drastically altering our planet, but in the Northwest our power comes from renewable, carbon-free hydroelectricity.
The Northwest is the leader in clean energy with more than 50% of our region’s power being provided by renewables. Hydropower accounts for 46% annually, with wind providing 9% and solar contributing around 1% to the mix. Hydropower is our largest renewable resource, it’s helping us provide thousands of megawatts and providing wind and solar with a firm backup in the goal to go greener.
Benton PUD’s clean energy portfolio is primarily made up of hydropower and nuclear - together they contribute almost 90% of our power and are the basis for our 95% carbon-free portfolio.
