Stephen Frost, Utility Safety Coordinator for Benton PUD, received the “Career Commitment to Safety Award” from the Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA). This award recognizes one individual each year for their outstanding proficiency in safety, demonstrated leadership in safety in their utility and the industry, and who has made a significant contribution to safety within the industry over their career.

Frost’s commitment to safety began during his time as lineman and instructor at Montana Power Company (1982 - 2000) where he focused on safety. Frost worked his way into a position with Electrical Safety Consultants International (ESCI) as a Safety Coordinator. At ESCI, he was responsible for performing safety services for several utilities in Central Washington.

Frost was later hired by Benton PUD as Utility Safety Coordinator and serves as a shared-resource between Benton and Franklin PUDs, Benton REA, and the City of Richland, While serving in this capacity, Frost led a team in the development of a training program addressing electricity safety fundamentals relevant to first responders.

“Steve Frost’s commitment to safety benefits our utility, neighboring utilities, our community, and first responders in the region,” said Chad Bartram, General Manager Benton PUD. “This is well-deserved award.”
